How a Warming World May Have Caused Hurricane Florence to Stall
(PBS News Hour - September 2018)
Picture
This short film discusses the science behind the increasing frequency of stalled tropical cyclones.
Dr. Hal Needham describes both the physical processes involved and potential catastrophic impacts.

Rise of the Superstorms (NOVA/PBS - June 2018)

Picture
NOVA's Rise of the Superstorms featured Dr. Hal Needham as a local flood expert. Dr. Needham lived in the Houston-Galveston metro area during Hurricane Harvey. He provided crucial flood communication with the public during the disaster.

Killer Typhoon (NOVA/PBS - January 2014)

Killer Typhoon features Dr. Hal Needham as an international storm surge expert. The documentary tells the story about deadly Super Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines during November 2013. Dr. Needham built the first storm surge database for the Philippines, as part of the U-Surge Project.
